With recent Instagram updates hitting headlines, I focused on the platform on my latest few episodes of Trending Topics and received a ton of questions about Instagram. I wanted to share my 7 hacks for increasing engagement and so much more!
#1- Untag Yourself on Instagram
Go to the tagged pictures on your profile and select the one you’d like to be removed from. Tap on the image again to reveal the tags and then select your own tag. You’ll be prompted with the option to remove the post from your tagged images or to remove your tag all together!
#2- Focus on Engagement
Include a handle in your comments. Having a large following that isn’t engaged gets you nowhere. SproutSocial found that including a handle in the comments of your posts increases engagement by 56%. Think about how you can work with other creators and brands to leverage their audience.
#3- Increase Engagement with Geotags
Adding a geotag to your post increases engagement by over 50%. How micro you want to get with the geotag depends on the content you’re posting.
#4- Reorder Your Filters
We all have our preferences and in order to make posting easier, reorder your filters to put your most utilized first. You can even remove the ones you never use to keep them out of the way. Simply slide all the way through your filters and select ‘Manage.’ From here, you can drag your faves to the front of the line.
#5- Utilize the Color Blue
Research shows that the color blue in photos and filters increases engagement by up to 20%.
#6- Consider Spaces & Emojis to Draw Attention to Your Bio
The one space on Instagram you’re limited creatively is in your bio, so utilize emojis and hashtags to keep things interesting and give your audience an idea of what you’re about.
#7- Match Your Highlights to Your Intended Audience
Show off what makes you appealing to your audience here so potential followers can get an idea of what you post. Just remember, your highlights save chronologically.
